What is the Art of Hosting?

Collaboration - everybody's doing it, every sector has identified the need for it, every funder is requiring it. But here's the question: have you ever been trained in how to collaborate effectively? Few have yet it's needed now more than ever.

The Art of Hosting is an approach to collaborative, participatory leadership that combines the skills, tools and personal capacities for doing meaningful, effective work - together.  This is a dialogue-based practice focusing on asking the right questions in a safe space with just enough structure for co-creation and innovation to emerge as we deal with complex challenges.
The times we are living in call for more collaboration across sectors, more effective meetings, better engagement processes, participatory leadership and the ability to craft strategy from collective wisdom and intelligence.  The Art of Hosting training and community of practice offers a way forward so you can find your own solutions.

Join us to:
  • Build Stronger Teams and Partnerships. Broaden the skill set within your group, work more effectively and enjoyably together, engage teams, organizations, and community stakeholders in meaningful conversations that promote resilience, belonging, innovation, and collective impact.
  • Enhance your skills and abilities to work with complexity, uncertainty & change. Develop leadership confidence for facing challenges that don’t have solutions, learn practices to engage skillfully with fear, conflict and stuck patterns, use wise process planning architectures for small and large scale initiatives, and host strategic conversation
  • Apply what you are learning directly to the change projects that are important to you, your community or organization.

The Art of Hosting offers a blend of some of the most powerful methods to create open and meaningful conversation that leads to commitment and good results.  Working with a range of collaborative methods -
Circle, World Café, Appreciative Inquiry, Open Space Technology, ProAction Café, storytelling and more
- practitioners can design the approach to their context and purpose.

A GROWING GLOBAL COMMUNITY

The Art of Hosting network is rapidly spreading and growing all over the world, as organizations, communities, and people from every walk of life take part in this new way of working that blends the best of what we all know about the power of conversation.  We are rediscovering it, together.

The Art of Hosting network has no formal, legal structure, no appointed leader, no accreditation program and no controlling body.  It is based on a global practitioner network that follows shared principles, with local communities of practice; it is committed to learning and generous with its sharing and support.
Regional AoH Contacts Around the World
Your first step to becoming a practitioner is to join an Art of Hosting training, which are offered regularly around the world. An international group of 'stewards' holds the deeper practice pattern and assures the quality of the training and the integrity of the global network, as each training that's called includes at least one steward. If you wish to call a training, you can find a steward here to work with you.
